Back in December, Mamoru Hosoda and his Studio Chizu revealed plans to release Belle as the acclaimed director’s next anime film. Now, in a Variety exclusive, the movie’s first teaser has arrived online. Check it out below and look for more to come as we head toward the planned summer 2021 premiere in Japan.
Chizu is on animation for the film with TOHO releasing it. The story depicts an online world known as U, where over five billion people gather from around the world. Suzu is a 17-year-old student who lives in a rural area with her father, and finds fame when she becomes the renowned, world-famous singer Belle. From there, her adventures kick into full gear when she meets a mysterious creature.
