After dominating at the global box office, Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train continues to do well. While we won’t have it in North American theaters until next year, the film is now the fifth most successful movie in Japan. Ever.
In Japan, Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train has outsold all the Harry Potter movies and some of the Hayao Miyazaki movies. The only movies to have done better in Japan at this point are Spirited Away, Titanic, Frozen, and your name.
The movie also set records for Japan’s best opening day and opening weekend. Considering the coronavirus and the fact not as many people are willing to go to movie theaters right now, this especially shows the level of interest from fans. Before the movie stops playing on the big screen, it might still make some other records.
