Blade Runner: Black Lotus Directors Reveal 2021 Release, More

Blade Runner: Black Lotus Directors Reveal 2021 Release, MoreMan, if you’d told me a decade ago there’d be not one but multiple Blade Runner anime productions, I’d have submitted you to a Voight-Kampff test to make sure you weren’t lying.

And you’d have passed it, because in the wake of Shinichiro Watanabe’s Black Out 2022, we’re getting Black Lotus, the upcoming Blade Runner series by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045).

Now thanks to an interview with said directors from Adult Swim Con, we know Black Lotus is set to debut in 2021 on the Crunchyroll and the Adult Swim.

That’s just one of the many things discussed in the 16-minute interview, which also reveals the show’s setting (2032) and its relation to Black Out 2022. They also confirmed the show will be animated in CG, much like the co-directors’ series Ultraman and SAC_2045.

It’s a wide-ranging chat that also touches on the original film’s influence on the anime industry and all that jazz, and definitely worth a look.
