Something huge is coming to Kyoto for fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Evangelion Kyoto Base is a new attraction that’s set to open at Toei Kyoto Studio Park this October, giving fans the rare opportunity to get in the robot themselves.
The centerpiece of the attraction is a 15-meter tall statue of Eva Unit-01, offering up the perfect photo op for visitors. There’s also a three-minute special effects show, a collaboration café, special merchandise, and an entry plug visitors can hop in to check their own synchronization rate.
Toei Kyoto Studio Park is primarily a theme park that recreates aspects of Japan’s Edo period, hence the traditional garb seen in these photos. Unless plans change between now and then, the Evangelion Kyoto Base attraction will open on October 3.
