Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! Anime Earns Broadcast Critics Award

One of the brightest spots of the Winter 2020 anime season was director Masaaki Yuasa and Science SARU’s adaptation of Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!. It seems the members of Japan’s Association of Broadcast Critics agree, because the series was granted the honor of one of its coveted Galaxy Awards.

The awards—which honor outstanding individuals, organizations, and TV programs—were established in 1963. It’s very rare for anime to receive one, and here’s what the Japan Council had to say about it:

A struggle of three high school girls to make anime. Its dynamic expression unique to anime was overwhelming, including the scenes that ‘the greatest world’ imagined by them seamlessly appeared in the real world. In their imagination world, the sound effects were expressed with voices. The anime was filled with such strong preferences for creativity and packed with the pleasure of animation. Also, Sairi Ito who played the protagonist was the best casting.
