Oshi no Ko Wins Yahoo! Japan Search Award 2023

Oshi no Ko Wins Yahoo! Japan Search Award 2023Yahoo! Japan (yes, Yahoo is still a commonly used search engine in Japan) has just released its Search Awards for 2023 — a list of pop culture faves that received the most searches for the year.

The search award for anime went to Oshi no Ko, a series which crossed over from anime fans to non-fans alike, partially thanks to its hit opening theme song, “Idol” by Yoasobi.

No surprise, then, that the search award for music went to “Idol.”

Anime runners-up included Blue Lock, Frieren, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku and Demon Slayer.

Other winners included:

  • Film: The Boy and the Heron
  • Game: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • TV series: VIVANT
  • Athlete: Shohei Ohtani
  • Voice actor: Mamoru Miyano

What’d you search for the most this year?
