After 25 Years in Music, Singer Namie Amuro to Retire

Namie Amuro, one of Japan’s most popular singers, will retire from show business next September, she announced today.
“I, Namie Amuro, would like to take this opportunity to inform all of my fans of my decision to retire as of Sept. 16, 2018,” news service Kyodo quoted Amuro as writing.
Amuro just celebrated 25 years in music with a concert in her native Okinawa.
The singer said she plans to create one more album and perform at concerts until her retirement a year from now.
To anime fans, Amuro may be best known for her theme songs for One Piece, Inuyasha, Pokemon 2000 and Nintama Rantaro. She performed the theme song for the recent Death Note: Light Up the New World and an upcoming One Piece TV special.
