Masami Kurumada, the creator of the Saint Seiya manga, was supposed to have his ‘first major exhibition’ this June, but those plans have changed. According to the official website, Kurumada’s exhibition has been canceled due to “various circumstances.” The author’s staff said he acknowledged the disappointment of fans and said he was also saddened by the news.

The exhibition—which was in the works to showcase a bunch of Kurumada’s manga art—was to be held at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills.

The original Saint Seiya manga ran from 1986 to 1990, and went on to inspire everything from anime adaptations to the recent live-action Knights of the Zodiac film. Kurumada is still working on the series in some capacity, with the Saint Seiya: Next Dimension – The Myth of Hades manga set to return from an extended hiatus for its climax early this summer.
