Zombie Land Saga Idols and Dempagumi.inc to Collaborate on Single

Zombie Land Saga Idols and Dempagumi.inc to Collaborate on SingleZombie Land Saga, the anime series about undead idol group Franchouchou, may be off the air, but its cultural influence still looms large. There’s an official Zombie Land Saga musical headed to Tokyo next month, and today a new single featuring Franchouchou was announced.

The single, called “Zombie Land DEMPA!!,” pits anime idols Franchouchou against real-life idol group Dempagumi.inc in a battle for the idol crown.

Today a piece of key art was released to promote the song, which will be released alongside a Zombie Land Saga fanbook on September 3.

In addition, both groups will appear on a TV special September 1 called Zombie and Dempa Save the Earth. On that special, Franchouchou will appear in the form of real-life Zombie Land Saga VOs voice actresses Asami Tano, Risa Taneda, Maki Kawase, Rika Kinugawa, and Minami Tanaka.

This whole thing kind of reminds us of that half live-action, half-anime video in which idol group Momoiro Clover Z teamed up with KISS.

As noted above, Zombie Land Saga will come to the stage in the form of a musical September 4-6 in Tokyo. A second season of the show is also on the way.

Here’s how Funimation describes Zombie Land Saga:

Sakura Minamoto is dead. The good kind of dead where she can still head-bang to heavy metal. She and six other long-lost celebs were sprung from the grave to form an idol group that will put their tiny town on the map! But when the crowd comes begging for more, can Sakura and her zom squad put on a show that will knock ‘em dead?
