Veteran Voice Actress Masako Sugaya Passes Away

masako sugayaAnother veteran of the voice acting world has left us, with news of Masako Sugaya’s passing arriving via talent agency Arts Vision. Sugaya—who passed away during a medical treatment for an undisclosed illness—was 83 years old.

Masako Sugaya has a long and impressive list of credits to her name. Born in 1937, she voiced characters ranging from Remi in Nobody’s Boy Remi to Maki Aikawa in Osamu Dezaki’s fan-favorite anime adaptation of Sumika Yamamoto’s Aim for the Ace! tennis manga. Sugaya was also known as Kitsune in Urusei Yatsura, Kenichi in Ninja Hattori-kun, and Ganko in Perman, among many other roles.
