Millions of fans love to play Mario Kart, and Universal Studios Hollywood just announced more information on their ride inspired by the game. The ride, called “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge,” is just like the Mario Kart ride you can find in Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World section. This will be part of the very first Super Nintendo World to open in the United States.
We’re told that the ride will open in “early 2023,” though we don’t have a more specific date than that at this time. Take a look at this video, where we’re teased on what we can expect.
According to the press release, Universal Studios Hollywood will have a Warp Pipe to reach their version of Super Nintendo World. The “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” ride will be inside Bowser’s Castle.
A press release explained:
“This innovative achievement will propel guests into a multi-dimensional experience that recreates iconic environments from the Mario Kart games and where no two races are alike. ‘Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge’ is also one of the most complex rides ever built within the entertainment industry.
The sophisticated ride is a multi-sensory cornucopia of color, sound and movement that invites guests to navigate familiar environs through the creative use and integration of head mounted augmented reality (AR) goggles—a key point of differentiation that distinguishes this ride from other theme park attractions.”
The press release assures us this ride is for everyone from major fans to people who don’t know anything about video games. It also said that various Mario Brothers merchandise will be available at the park, specifically listing off “Mario and Luigi themed apparel and iconic character hats and a selection of plush characters, including Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Bowser.”
Are you ready to step into the Mushroom Kingdom at Universal Studios Hollywood?
