The Isekai Ojisan / Uncle from Another World manga by Hotondoshindeiru is on the way to TV in the form of an anime adaptation, and the latest update from the source material offers a nice way to preview what’s to come. To mark the occasion of the seventh volume hitting stores in Japan, KADOKAWA shared a 30-second commercial for the manga, which also introduces the voices of the two main characters for the first time.
Takehito Koyasu is voicing the titular uncle and Jun Fukuyama is voicing Takafumi in the upcoming anime, and you can hear samples of both below.
According to the ad, the Uncle from Another World manga has printed over 1.8 million copies since November 2018. Yen Press will be releasing the first volume in English on June 8.
Synopsis:
Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!
