Uncle from Another World Anime Hit With Another COVID-19 Delay

uncle from another world

The Uncle from Another World TV anime just can’t catch a break. Or, rather, it seems all it can catch are breaks, because it’s been hit with another hiatus due to COVID-19. This time the pandemic has impacted the delivery of materials from China, so the 13th episode has been delayed as a result.

Episode 13 of Uncle from Another World was originally scheduled to premiere in Japan on December 29. The episode has been pushed back to the new year in order to maintain the series’ quality, and a rebroadcast of episode 12 will air in its place.

Shigeki Kawai directs Uncle from Another World at anime production house Atelier Pontdarc. Global Netflix streaming kicked off on July 20, and there are currently six episodes available on US Netflix.

Yen Press publishes Hotondoshindeiru’s original manga in English and sums up the story below:

Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!
