A second season was announced for the To Your Eternity anime—which adapts the manga of the same name by Yoshitoki Oima—back in August of last year. Flash forward to today and we finally have a new teaser, which also reveals some big changes to the staff.
Chief among them is the fact that a new director is on board for the second season. While the first had Masahiko Murata at the helm, To Your Eternity season 2’s director is Kiyoko Sayama (Prétear, Vampire Knight). The studio has also changed from Brain’s Base to Drive, which has produced projects like Vladlove and ACTORS: Songs Connection.
Beyond that, the rest of the staff from the first season will return for the second, including series script supervisor Shinzo Fujita, character designer Koji Yabuno, sound director Takeshi Takadera and composer Ryo Kawasaki.
Here’s the new teaser:
Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in English and Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired.
Synopsis:
In the beginning, an “orb” is cast unto Earth. “It” can do two things: change into the form of the thing that stimulates “it”; and come back to life after death. “It” morphs from orb to rock, then to wolf, and finally to boy, but roams about like a newborn who knows nothing. As a boy, “it” becomes Fushi.
Through encounters with human kindness, Fushi not only gains survival skills, but grows as a “person”. But his journey is darkened by the inexplicable and destructive enemy Nokker, as well as cruel partings with the people he loves.
