Tennessee Titans Game Advertised with Attack on Titan Nod

The Jacksonville Jaguars were set to play against the Tennessee Titans over the weekend, so what did they do to get people fired up? They shared an Attack on Titan-inspired image, of course.

Attack on Titan has been used for advertising NFL games before. For 2022 Super Bowl Sunday, Bleacher Report shared an image of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow standing overhead as the Titan, referencing the iconic Attack on Titan image. But, as people pointed out, this could have been an even more on-the-nose reference if one of the teams involved were the Titans. Well, this time around, that came true.

Here is the image the Jacksonville Jaguars shared. Trevor Lawrence, quarterback for the Jaguars, is on the ground, with Derrick Henry, running back for the Titans, looming overhead as an actual Titan.

In the end, the Jaguars beat the Titans 20-16.

The Seattle Seahawks’ Travis Homer has also brought Attack on Titan to the NFL by doing the Attack on Titan hand-to-chest salute.

Kodansha publishes the original Attack on Titan manga in English. It gave this description for the series:

“A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but a few thousand humans. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren yearns to explore the world beyond Wall Maria. But what began as a childish dream will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction…

Attack on Titan is the award-winning and New York Times-bestselling series that is the manga hit of the decade! Spawning the monster hit anime TV series of the same name, Attack on Titan has become a pop culture sensation.”
