Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie Drops Two Trailers

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be hitting theaters on April 8, and two trailers just dropped. The first trailer, “Big Game Spot,” was shown during Super Bowl LVI.

Then here is the second trailer, which is called “Rings.”

This movie is the sequel to 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog, which holds the spot as the most successful American movie based on a video game, raking in $319,715,683 worldwide. It made $148,974,665 in America alone, beating out Detective Pikachu, which made $144,105,346 in the U.S. The movie was released just before major COVID shutdowns, and opened at #1 on President’s Day Weekend.

Paramount Pictures gave this description of the sequel:

“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

From the filmmakers behind The Fast and the Furious and Deadpool, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.”

It’s being produced by Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, and Hitoshi Okuno. The screenplay was written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller and John Whittington, with the story credited to Pat Casey and Josh Miller. It’s being directed by Jeff Fowler, who also directed the previous Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
