Thanks to the way March 15 can be read in Japanese—3 (sa), 1 (i) and 5 (ko)—the date was designated as “Saiko no Tate no Hi,” AKA The Hardest Shield Day. Naturally, two of the most prominent shield users in anime had to get together for the occasion, so we were presented with a collaboration visual that pairs the leads from The Rising of the Shield Hero and BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defense.
The visual depicts Naofumi Iwatani from Shield Hero and Maple from BOFURI standing side by side with their respective shields. The official Shield Hero website has four sizes of wallpapers for PC and mobile devices available for free, and you can see the full visual below.
Both The Rising of the Shield Hero and BOFURI have second seasons in the works. Shield Hero Season 2 premieres on April 6, and BOFURI‘s second season is currently scheduled for sometime in 2022.
