Sengoku Youko Anime Returns for More This July

sengoku youko

The Sengoku Youko anime—which adapts the manga by Satoshi Mizukami—isn’t done just yet. Following the airing of the first part, the second has been locked in for a July 2024 premiere. The next set of episodes will adapt the Senma Konton-hen (Thousand Demons of Chaos Arc) storyline.

A new visual arrived with the news:

Mizukami’s manga ran in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade and Comic Blade magazines from 2007-2016. The TV anime adaptation is being directed by Masahiro Aizawa, with WHITE FOX handling animation production. The first part kicked off on January 10, 2024, with Crunchyroll streaming shortly after the Japanese broadcast.

Here’s how Crunchyroll describes the series:

The world is divided into two factions: humans and monsters called katawara. Despite being a katawara, Tama loves humans and vows to protect them from evil, even if it means fighting her own kind. Her brother Jinka, however, hates humans, despite mostly being one. The siblings are joined by a cowardly swordsman named Shinsuke, who wants to learn how to become strong.

When the group uncovers a plot to experiment on humans and transform them into monsters, they vow to defeat whoever is behind it… Even if it means battling an entire army of warriors.
