Hypnosis Mic Film’s Ending Will Change Based on Smartphone Poll

Hypnosis Mic Film’s Ending Will Change Based on Smartphone PollWell, this is a tough one to swallow if you hate people looking at their phones while you’re watching a movie. The upcoming film from the Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- franchise is being billed as Japan’s first “interactive film.”

The movie, which opens February 21, 2025, will have branching storylines that depend on real-time polling of audience members, who will vote on which way they want the story to go on their smartphones.

The film is directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Resident Evil: Vendetta) at Polygon Pictures, with Yuichiro Momose writing the screenplay (or screenplays, as the case may be).

Gimmicky, but a good way to get audiences to go see the film multiple times, I guess!

Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-, as you may recall, launched in 2017, and includes music, anime, plays, manga, games and more. Here’s how Funimation described the first season of the anime:

Rap group The Dirty Dawg could’ve taken over Japan until they broke up. Now in rival groups, they face one another for control using the power of rap and the hypnosis mics: weaponized microphones that affect the spirit. Whose verse will end on top?

What do you think of the concept behind this film?
