Nyaight of the Living Cat, the upcoming anime from legendary director Takashi Miike about cats overtaking the world, is set to hop onto screens July 7. Now we’ve got some new story and cast details, as well as some stills and even a clip.
According to a newly released summary of the first episode, the story goes something like this: siblings who run a cat cafe hire a man who has lost his memory. The man begins a peaceful life at the cafe until one day a customer who touches a cat turns into one. Thus begins the nyandemic: if you touch a cat, you become a cat.
The clip features a task force called the Super Cute Cat Special Disaster Response Headquarters talking about what to do about the problem (not sure it is a problem, if you ask me…).
Newly announced cast members include Kazuhiro Inoue, Chikahiro Kobayashi, and Kenichiro Matsuda as Jin E. Marlow, a lonely traveler in the world of the nyandemic.
The Nyaight of the Living Cat anime was announced last year with Miike as executive director. Crunchyroll has previously released a trailer for the series. It’s based on the manga by Hawkman and Mecha-Roots.
