After six Milla Jovovich films, a 2021 reboot, a Netflix series and all those CG movies, there seems, amazingly, to still be an appetite for Resident Evil stuff.
Enough, at least, for four studios, including Netflix and Warner Bros., to be bidding on a new reboot film from Constantin Film and PlayStation Productions. That’s the word from Hollywood Reporter this week.
The new reboot (not to be confused with the 2021 one) will be directed by Zach Creggar (Barbarian) and co-written by Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 4).
HR says the new Resident Evil reboot film is “a revamp that will take the title to its horror roots and be more faithful to the initial games.”
On the one hand: enough RE stuff already! On the other hand: Creggar’s Barbarian was awesome. Color me cautiously optimistic.
