A new Kinnikuman anime is currently in the works, and the latest take on creator team Yudetamago’s classic pro-wrestling manga—also known in English as Ultimate Muscle—is set to premiere sometime in 2024. While we wait for more details on the launch, a teaser visual arrived along with info on the main staff behind the new production.
Akira Sato is lined up to direct the Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Shiso-hen (Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Founder Story) anime, with Makoto Fukami providing series composition, Hirotaka Marufuji on character designs and Yasuharu Takanashi composing the music for the Production I.G project. Yudetamago’s original Kinnikuman manga first started its run in 1979, and has graced the pages of magazines like Weekly Shonen Jump and Weekly Playboy. Over 83 volumes have been released in Japan, and its first TV anime kicked off back in 1983.
