Live-Action One Piece Sails to Netflix with Eiichiro Oda Overseeing

Last time we posted about the live-action One Piece series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Luke Cage writer Matt Owens had hopped on board. A new update came through via the official Twitter and Deadline today, including a few more details and the announcement that original author Eiichiro Oda will be overseeing the Netflix series.

One Piece will have Steve Maeda (Lost, The X-Files) as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, and it will be a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios (Hanna, Snowpiercer, Cowboy Bebop), with physical production handled by Netflix. Other executive producers include Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, as well as Oda himself.

So far, a 10-episode first season is in the works. Here’s a translation of what Oda had to say about it:
