Original MAPPA Anime Taiso Samurai Leaps Onto Screens This October MAPPA, the studio behind Yuri on Ice and Zombie Land Saga, is bringing the world of gymnastics to anime with Taiso Samurai, a new original series set to land this October.

The series centers around male gymnast Shotaro Aragaki, a once-great member of Japan’s gymnastics team whose body isn’t responding like it used to, and whose coach is advising him to retire—until an encounter changes his destiny.

Taiso Samurai reunites Hisatoshi Shimizu, screenwriter Shigeru Murakoshi and character designer Kasumi Fukagawa, who all worked together on Zombie Land Saga.

The series will star Daisuke Namikawa as Aragaki. It’s set to debut October 10 on TV Asahi.
