Death Note is all over the place once more, from the Netflix-destined adaptation by director Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) to the new Japanese live-action attempt, Death Note: Light Up the New World. In the case of the latter a new trailer recently made its way online, offering a quick idea of what to expect from director Shinsuke Sato (I Am a Hero, Gantz) and a story set a decade after the previous Death Note movies.
In Death Note: Light Up the New World, six different Death Notes have made their way to the human world, and that just so happens to be the maximum number that can exist at one time. Thus another deadly game of cat and mouse kicks off between L’s righteous successor, an investigator at the Death Note Countermeasures Headquarters Special Unit, and a devious mass murderer.
Death Note: Light Up the New World opens in Japan on October 29.
