Kids’ Choice Awards Nominates Super Mario Bros. Movie, Zelda, Transformers and More

Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is scheduled to take place July 13, and in the meantime its many nominees have been revealed, including ones related to otaku interests.

For starters, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is in the running for Favorite Animated Movie. Actors Chris Pratt (Mario) and Jack Black (Bowser) will compete against each other for the category Favorite Male Voice From an Animated Movie. Actress Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach) is one of the nominees for Favorite Female Voice From an Animated Movie.

In the category Favorite Video Game, the Japanese titles The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are among those competing.

In the more general Favorite Movie category, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is one of the titles kids can vote for to win.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury is also getting some love, with the show as a nominee for Favorite Kids TV Show. Two of its actresses, Hunter Deno and Tessa Rao, will compete for Favorite Female TV Star. And one of its male actors, Chance Perez, is a nominee for Favorite Male TV Star.

Illumination Entertainment gave this description for The Super Mario Bros. Movie:

From Nintendo and Illumination comes a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
