The first spinoff novel is on the way for the Satoru Noda’s Golden Kamuy manga, and this one packs in something special. When Golden Kamuy: Tsurumi Tokushiro no Shukugan (Golden Kamuy: Tokushiro Tsurumi’s Aspiration) launches on October 17 in Japan, a limited edition version will include a Blu-ray with a brand-new anime on it.
The Blu-ray will specifically cover popular manga chapter “The Lightning Thief and Viper Ogin.” It will also include mini-episode “Shimaenaga” for a total of a roughly 30-minute runtime. Brains Base continues to animate with Shizutaka Sugahara directing.
The novel itself comes from historical mystery writer Amon Ibuki, who tackles some of the many shocking encounters surrounding Tsurumi and the 7th Division during the Russo-Japanese War.
The Golden Kamuy manga ended in April 2022, inspiring four seasons of anime, with a final arc in the works, as well as a live-action series and film.

The story takes place in the mighty Northern field of Hokkaido, the time is in the turbulent late Meiji Era. A post war soldier Sugimoto, aka, “Immortal Sugimoto” was in need of large sums of money for a particular purpose…. What awaited Sugimoto, who stepped into Hokkaido’s Gold Rush with dreams of making a fortune, was a tattoo map leading to a hidden treasure based on hints inscribed on the bodies of convicts in Abashiri Prison?!
