A new Japanese Godzilla project was revealed to be in the works back in November 2022, and while details were light at the time, we now know more about what’s being called Godzilla Minus One. The film—which is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki and set in a world where Godzilla attacks a devastated post-WWII Japan—already has a date with the United States, where it’s currently set to open on December 1, 2023.
Ahead of that, Godzilla Minus One will open in Japan on November 3, 2023, as previously teased. You can catch a glimpse of the Big G in the teaser below.
Yamazaki’s filmography includes a mix of live-action and CG-animated film, from 2002’s Returner and the 2014-2015 Parasyte films to animated projects like Stand by Me Doraemon and Lupin III: The First.
