Fortnite Anime Crossovers That Could Convince Me to Start Playing

When Naruto hit Fortnite, it opened the door to more anime crossovers

It feels like everyone out there has started playing Fortnite. The battle royale MMO is everywhere — both literally and in terms of crossovers. From Star Wars to the MCU to last year’s Naruto collab, the Battle Bus has stops everywhere. And it’s picking up everyone. Except for me.

Unless…

See, I know me. And I know that my resistance to new things crumbles in the face of a good crossover. Give me the opportunity to dress up my character as one of my vintage anime faves, and I won’t be able to help myself. Especially since several of them would, frankly, fit into the game pretty seamlessly.

Mobile Suit Gundam

Mobile Suit Gundam

Epic Games has already polled Fortnite players on what crossovers and skins they’d like to see in future. Series like Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and My Hero Academia understandably ranked high. But a surprising addition to the mix was a classic mecha anime star: Amuro Ray from Mobile Suit Gundam.

Gundam crossover that lets people play out Amuro and Char Aznable’s legendary rivalry would be stunning. Granted, it would be feet-on-the-ground combat rather than mecha battles. But if there’s a giant robot anime that’s prime for that, it’s Gundam. Offer me up that opportunity, and I’d find it hard to resist.

Dirty Pair

Dirty Pair

If anyone’s just made to be in Fortnite, it’s gotta be the Dirty Pair… sorry, I mean Lovely Angels. Kei and Yuri are gun-toting, explosion-causing harbingers of destruction. The collateral damage they leave in their wake earned them their better-known name. If anyone’s going to rip up the battle royale scene, it’s this pair.

There would even be opportunities for multiple skins. There’s the classic look, of course. But the technicolor 90s goodness of the Dirty Pair Flash redesign might appeal to players, too. If it were me, though? Original all the way. And the opportunity to play as Kei might very well make me click the download button.

Lupin the Third

Lupin the Third and friends on the run

Dear Fortnite: if you want to drag me (and lots of other anime fans) into your game, let us play as these fools. Much like Dirty Pair, it seems like a match made in heaven. The Lupin Gang have been selectively disregarding physics, gravity, and the limits of the human body for half a century. Not only that, the sheer amount of double-crossing and unlikely alliances among the five leads already feels a bit like a battle royale game.

And skins? Come on. Our main boy already has multiple looks. You’re four or five skins deep before you even get to the rest of the gang. And it doesn’t stop there. Imagine adding the Walther P-38 to your loadout, or driving the little yellow Fiat around the map. Honestly, it’s probably a good thing we haven’t had this… I would absolutely not be able to resist.

Speaking of crossovers, here are some multiverse anime meetings we’d go mad for.
