Eiko Masuyama, the Original Voice of Fujiko Mine in Lupin the Third, Has Passed Away

A legend of the anime voice acting industry is no longer with us, as the passing of Eiko Masuyama has been confirmed. The voice actor is known for being the original voice of Fujiko Mine in Lupin the Third—starting with appearances in the 1969 pilot film and continuing in the role from 1977 to 2012.

Masuyama passed away on May 20, 2024 due to pneumonia. She was 89 years old. In accordance with her wishes, her family held a private funeral. 

Beyond Fujiko Mine, Masuyama also voiced Snow Princess Kaguya in Sailor Moon S: The Movie – Hearts in Ice and Honey Kisaragi in the original Cutie Honey anime, among others. 

Eiko Masuyama left an incredible legacy behind. Our thoughts go out to her family, friends and colleagues.
