Colossal Transformers Toy Has Trouble Reaching $4.6 Million Crowdfunding Goal

Last month we posted about Hasbro’s crowdfunding campaign for a Unicron figure, which would end up being the largest Transformer toy ever produced at over 27 inches tall. The HasLab platform established the campaign in hopes of getting 8,000 backers to throw down $575 each—which adds up to a lofty $4.6 million goal—but it’s looking less likely by the day.

With the August 31 deadline looming, HasLab has thus far managed to secure $1.4 million of the total goal. Though the goal wasn’t quite as high, HasLab previously ran a successful campaign for Jabba’s Sail Barge from Return of the Jedi, which had 7,000 backers contributing $3.85 million to make the dream toy a reality.

There isn’t too much time left for Unicron, so unless some deep pockets weigh in soon, this project isn’t likely to succeed. Here’s a look at the prototype that was on display at San Diego Comic-Con:

Would you pay nearly $600 for Unicron? What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a single toy? Let us know in the comments!
