There’s some employment shifting going on in Kadokawa, the Japanese publishing giant. Anime News Network explained that the company is changing its six departments to thirteen groups, and the thirteen groups all have their own chief officer. This includes the position of Chief Anime Officer.

These are the new groups:

Publishing Group
Literature & Movie Group
Anime Group
Gaming Group
Digital Group
eXperience Group
Global Marketing Group
Rights Group
Marketing Group
Manufacturing & Logistics Group
Human Resources Group
Financial Group
Internal Control Group

This move will also get rid of some positions, but those executives are getting other work within the company. In addition to appointing roles such as Chief Anime Officer, Kadokawa said this is “to achieve a more flat and horizontal corporate structure.”

Shinichiro Inoue, who has been President and CEO, Kadokawa Shoten Co., Ltd. and President and CEO, Kadokawa Production Co., Ltd., is now in charge of the anime group as Chief Anime Officer. These changes go into effect today, October 1.

In related doings with the publisher, earlier this year Kadokawa opened an online store for the US and other markets.
