Here are the new cast members: Shinichiro Miki plays Yahya, Shigeru Chiba plays Gosha, Kōji Okino plays Melon, Tessho Genda plays Sagwan, and Fumiko Orikasa plays Seven.

The main cast will reprise their roles.

The anime is being made at Orange, with Shinichi Matsumi helming as the director and Nanami Higuchi penning the scripts. As is happening more often now, it’s being divided into two cours. Netflix described the second cours as “Coming Soon” as opposed to sharing a specific date yet.

The BEASTARS manga started in 2016, in the pages of Weekly Shonen Champion magazine, and the series concluded four years later in 2020. You can check out Otaku USA’s review of the first volume here. The anime adaptation premiered in 2019.

VIZ Media publishes the original manga by Paru Itagaki and gave this description for the plot:

BEASTARS Plot

At a high school where the students are literally divided into predators and prey, it’s personal relationships that maintain the fragile peace. Who among them is a Beastar—an academic and social role model destined to become a leader in a society naturally rife with mistrust?

Last night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student was killed and eaten. Among the members of the drama club, the herbivores’ suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates… The prime suspect? Legoshi, a large wolf. But he wouldn’t hurt a fly—or would he? And will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her…something else?
