It was recently revealed that Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time would make its debut outside of Japan on Amazon Prime Video’s streaming service, and it turns out Japan is getting the film on digital on the very same day. Now that the movie’s wildly successful run—which just had it launching past the 10 billion yen mark—is coming to an end, the Evangelion 3.0+1.01 edition is on the way to Amazon Prime Video in Japan on August 13 along with the rest of the world.
The updated version of the final Evangelion film opened on June 12 in Japan with a few differences to the original theatrical run. Evangelion 3.0+1.01 has just one more day in theaters in Japan, and in the time since its March 8 premiere it has gradually made its way up to the 35th film of all time in Japan’s box office.
