If you’re anything like me, you could just sit around and listen to Hideaki Anno talk about Evangelion all day. If the recent NHK documentary on the director didn’t sate you, here’s another opportunity to hear from the Eva creator himself. Starting tomorrow in Japan, there’ll be a talk show on Amazon Prime featuring Anno talking about Eva with comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto.
The 30-second preview on YouTube shows both men lookin’ sharp, with the following exchange:
Matsumoto: How… do you think this is going to go?
Anno: I think it’ll get chaotic pretty quick.
One can only hope! Folks in Japan can check this out starting August 20. All others, write your congressperson and demand an international release.
Meanwhile, Evangelion 3.0+1.01 is streaming on Amazon now. Here’s how they somewhat creakily describe it:
The 4th and final installment of Rebuild of Evangelion, Misato and her anti-NERV group Wille arrive at Paris, a city now red from core-ization. Crew from the flagship Wunder land on a containment tower. They only have 720 seconds to restore the city. When a horde of NERV Evas appear, Mari’s improved Eva Unit 8 must intercept. Meanwhile, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei (provisional name) wander about Japan.
