It’s a mighty undertaking to transfer the power of a long-running series like George Morikawa’s Hajime no Ippo manga into the world of digital releases, but Kodansha is taking a big swing. As revealed in this year’s 30th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine, all 131 volumes of the series will be released digitally in Japan on July 1.
As for future chapters, all of those will also get digital releases along with standard print releases in the future. Previously, the first 60 volumes of the Hajime no Ippo manga were made available digitally as something for readers to enjoy during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this is the first time for all current and future chapters to get that treatment.
The Hajime no Ippo manga first launched in 1989, and the 131st volume hit shelves in Japan on June 17, 2021.
