Anime Couples We Can’t Wait to Meet in the Fall Season

We can't wait to see these anime couples (old and new) next month!

A new anime season means new series, new action… and new couples! Whether they’re aiming for the top, fighting the occult, or warding off each other’s jealous lovers, this trio of anime couples is sure to light up our screens this autumn. Which of these three pairs of lovebirds are you most exited to see?

Momo and Okarun

Momo and Okarun

When you think about the upcoming Science SARU series Dandadan, anime couples are probably not the first thing you think of. Well, unless you’ve been keeping up with the manga! While out-of-this-world action may take up the bulk of Yukinobu Tatsu’s hit manga series, there’s also a slow-burn romance at its core. Unfortunately, alien truther Ken Takakura and spirit medium trainee Momo Ayase don’t really have a lot of time to make their feelings known. Not while they and their friends are busy being attacked (and occasionally possessed) by otherworldly beings.

Early on, Momo’s got it bad for Ken. But that’s partly because he inadvertently reminds her of her favorite old-time movie star. He even has the same name as her fave, hence why she insists on calling him “Okarun” instead. But as the manga goes on, their feelings for each other have a few more chances to bubble to the surface. We can’t wait to see these two dodging the paranormal side-by-side when the series premieres on October 4.

Taiki and Chinatsu

Chinatsu and Taiki

Some of the best anime couples get together because they have similar goals. And that’s definitely the case for Taiki Inomata and Chinatsu Kano, the stars of the upcoming Blue Box. The sports/romance manga is currently running in Shonen Jump, following the exploits of badminton player Taiki and his basketball star crush. The two train alongside each other at school early in the morning, but their paths never meet. That is, until Chinatsu moves in with Taiki’s family when her parents move away to work abroad!

Now they have lots of opportunities to get to know each other. But love is a minefield, especially since dating while under the same roof would definitely come across as suspicious. Not only that, but both sports stars have admirers of their own! How will they navigate their new relationship? Find out when the anime premieres on October 3.

Ranma and Akane

Akane and Ranma

One of the all-time best anime couples will soon be back on our screens! Ranma 1/2 is back this fall with an all-new series… and lots of familiar voices. With Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara, and Noriko Hidaka reprising their roles as the show’s central couple, we’re expecting lots of nostalgia and lots of martial arts madness.

If you’ve somehow never heard of this Rumiko Takahashi classic, let us fill you in. Teens Ranma Sotome and Akane Tendo have been betrothed to each other by their fathers. But neither fiancée is especially interested in the arrangement. Despite themselves (and their respective violent admirers), the two grow closer over time. But there’s another hitch. Ranma, his father, and several other characters carry the curse of the springs of Jusenkyo. This curse causes you to turn into whatever drowned in those springs when you’re splashed with water. In Ranma’s case, that means he becomes a girl. And girl-type Ranma has her own set of admirers. How will the new series compare to the original? Find out on October 5!
