Dragon Ball villain Lord Frieza likes to get around on his hover pod as he commits his dastardly deeds, and a new toy from Bandai Namco lets you use his hover pod to . . . just sit around.
The hover pod, which is about 27 1/5 inches tall and a little over 37 inches in diameter, is basically meant to be a big cushion. The inside is covered with a texture resembling fur and has miniature beads on the inside, all to make the hover pod as comfy as possible. It’s also supposed to keep you feeling plenty warm.
There is a clear pocket on the inside of the front of the hover pod. This is so you can put your phone in there. You could just let it sit there, or you could watch something on your phone. The pocket is touch-responsive, so you can have it do things while it’s tucked away. As part of Bandai Namco’s advertisements, they have an image of a man watching Frieza from Dragon Ball Z on his phone.
The hover pod costs 29,700 yen, which is about $200. It will only be available for a limited amount of time. You can pre-order it between now and November 21. The items are expected to ship in February of next year.
VIZ Media publishes Dragon Ball Z — and the Frieza Saga — in both black and white and full-color. It gave this description for the first volume of the Frieza arc:
“After his epic battle with Vegeta, Son Goku and his friends must obtain the wish-granting Dragon Balls in order to resurrect their fallen allies! Their search will take them all the way to the planet Namek, where the evil Freeza and his minions are slaughtering the Namekians in order to fulfill Freeza’s wish for immortality. What will it take to defeat this great evil?”
