A second season was announced for the BOFURI anime—full title BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defense—back in January 2021, and it has since been lined up for a January 2023 debut. Now there’s another new update in the form of a very adventurous key visual.
Check out the new piece of art while we wait for this one to premiere:
BOFURI season 2 has director Shin Oonuma (WATAMOTE) returning along with series composition writer Fumihiko Shimo, character designer Kazuya Hirata and other season 1 staff members. The series is based on the original light novels written by Yuumikan and illustrated by Koin, available in English from Yen Press.
The first season is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, which describes it like so:
She may be new to gaming, but Maple has found the secret to invincibility! Just put all your skill points into defense until you can’t even move. That works, right? She doesn’t want to experience any pain in the VRMMO game she started playing, and somehow it works better than anyone expected. Now she’s got followers??
