The airing of the landmark 1,000th episode of the One Piece anime brought some special news along with it. A brand new film titled ONE PIECE FILM RED is officially set to premiere in Japan on August 6, 2022, and this one has Code Geass director Goro Taniguchi returning to the series for the first time since 1998.
In addition to being known for Geass, Taniguchi previously directed the One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack! short for the Jump Super Anime Tour way back in 1998, preceding the debut of the TV anime series itself in 1999. He will be joined by writer Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who previously penned the script for ONE PIECE FILM GOLD.
Toei Animation is producing the film with creator Eiichiro Oda, and you can see the teaser trailer and first key art below.
