The anime Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu (translated as The Moon, Laika, and Nosferatu) will receive the option of a paid online advance screening for the first two episodes in September, ahead of the official October debut. Whether people check it out in September, October or later, a trailer for Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu has dropped that lets us hear the opening theme song “Hi no Tsuki” (translated as “Crimson Moon”), performed by Ali Project.
The anime is based on a light novel series by Keisuke Makino and Karei. The light novels have not been licensed in America. In the original story, the Union of Zirnitra Republics and the United Kingdom of Arnak are competing in a space race. The main characters are Lev Leps, who is attempting to become an astronaut, and his friend Irina Ruminescu, who is a vampire. Irina also wants to go to space, and they get involved with Operation Nosferatu.
Members of the cast have also been revealed: Megumi Hayashibara plays Irina Ruminescu, Kouki Uchiyama plays Lev Leps, Satoshi Hino plays Mikhail Yashin, Mikako Komatsu plays Roza Plevitskaya, Hina Kino plays Anya Simonyan, Takaya Hashi plays Slava Korovin, Masaki Terasoma plays Lieutenant Victor, Kikuko Inoue plays Natalia, Kenichi Ogata plays Fjodor Gergiev, M.A.O plays Lyudmila Halrova, and Hiroki Touchi plays the Narrator.
The anime adaptation is being directed by Akitoshi Yokoyama, who previously worked on Cutie Honey Universe. Keisuke Makino, who wrote the original novels, is involved with the scripts. The assistant director is Taiji Kawaguchi, while the compositing director of photography is Hideki Imaizumi and the sound director is Takatoshi Hamano. The music is being composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, who has worked on Black Butler: Book of Circus and Chrono Trigger.
You can’t hear it here, but the ending theme song will be called “Arifureta Itsuka” (translated as “A Wonderful Someday”) and performed by Chima.
