The nominees for the 48th Annual Annie Awards have been revealed, and some of them are anime. The Annie Awards is specifically set up for animated movies and shows.
In the Best Indie Feature category, Ride Your Wave from Masaaki Yuasa (who just won an award from the Japanese government for his creative work) and ON-GAKU: Our Sound are both in the running. Ride Your Wave shows up again under Best Direction – Feature.
The Best Character Design category includes BNA: Brand New Animal, the Best FX – TV/Media category includes Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege, and the Best Direction – TV/Media category includes Great Pretender.
Earwig and the Witch has two nominations — Best Storyboarding – Feature, and Best Voice Acting for Vanessa Marshall as Bella Yaga in the English dub.
Winners will be announced April 16.
