To Your Eternity Anime Picks Up J-Pop Heavyweight Hikaru Utada

To Your Eternity Anime Picks Up J-Pop Heavyweight Hikaru UtadaHow do you get music fans to sit up and pay attention to your new anime? How about recruiting J-pop legend Hikaru Utada to do your opening theme?

That’s the strategy being employed by the upcoming series To Your Eternity. The series just announced that Utada will be performing the opening theme, which is called “PINK BLOOD.”

Utada, one of Japan’s most influential and best-selling artists, has performed songs for the Evangelion Rebuild films, but this is her first theme for an anime series.

To Your Eternity is set to hit screens this April. Here’s how Kodansha Comics describes the original manga:

A new manga from the creator of the acclaimed A Silent Voice, featuring intimate, emotional drama and an epic story spanning time and space…

A lonely boy wandering the Arctic regions of North America meets a wolf, and the two become fast friends, depending on each other to survive the harsh environment. But the boy has a history, and the wolf is more than meets the eye as well… To Your Eternity is a totally unique and moving manga about death, life, reincarnation, and the nature of love.

The creator of A Silent Voice and one of Japan’s best musicians? We’ll definitely be tuning in this April.
