You can (never) watch. Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time has been delayed for a second time due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
That’s the word from the film’s official Twitter feed. The film had been set for January 23 (and before that, June 27, 2020).
The official tweet states the delay is due to Japan’s current state of emergency, set by the government January 8. While not an official lockdown, the state of emergency requests that people in several major prefectures, including Tokyo and Osaka, stay home whenever possible.
A new release date for the film has not yet been announced. We imagine Studio Khara and the distributors will wait until COVID-19 cases are at a low enough level that theaters can open safely, as was the case when the Demon Slayer film broke box office records last year.
Vaccinations for COVID-19 in Japan, by the way, are expected to kick off starting in late February. Here’s hoping we can see the film sometime this year!
https://t.co/tKwRyyWkBl pic.twitter.com/3VhD60v69a— エヴァンゲリオン公式 (@evangelion_co) January 14, 2021
