We’re always excited to see what studio Shaft and master director Akiyuki Shinbo whip up next. This time around, it’s Pretty Boy Detective Club, or Bishonen Tanteidan. The series, based on the novels by Nisio Isin (Monogatari) is set to hit airwaves in 2021.
The 11-volume novel series is about the titular Detective Club, made up of students at Yubiwa Private Academy. As the name implies, all the members are boys—except one, protagonist Mayumi Doujima.
The announcement that the series would be airing in 2021 came with a teaser visual that shows off some of the characters. The character designs for the series are by Hiroki Yamamura (Fate/EXTRA Last Encore).
Akiyuki Shinbo is, of course, the director of Shaft series like Puella Magi Madoka Magica and the Monogatari series, making him the perfect match for this Nisio Isin adaptation.
We’ll have more details on Pretty Boy Detective Club as they arrive!
