SHAFT Animates Bakemonogatari Manga Promo

bakemonogatari manga

More Monogatari anime has arrived, and while it’s not an actual TV or movie project, it does come in the form of a nicely animated promotional video for the Bakemonogatari manga adaptation by Oh! great. The 16th compiled volume launched in Japan on Thursday, and anime studio SHAFT stepped in to provide a trailer to promote it in style.

Bakemonogatari TV anime director Akiyuki Simbo is back at the helm for this one, both directing and handling storyboard duties. The cast also returned for the promo, including Hiroshi Kamiya as Koyomi Araragi, Chiwa Saito as Hitagi Senjougahara, Emiri Katou as Mayoi Hachikuji, Miyuki Sawashiro as Suruga Kanbaru, Kana Hanazawa as Nadeko Sengoku and Yui Horie as Tsubasa Hanekawa.

Check out the results below.

Vertical publishes the original novels by NisiOisin, as well as Oh! great’s manga adaptation. Here’s the official synopsis:

One day, high-school student Koyomi Araragi catches a girl named Hitagi Senjougahara when she trips. But—much to his surprise—she doesn’t weigh anything. At all. She says an encounter with a so-called “crab” took away all her weight … Monsters have been here since the beginning. Always. Everywhere.
