The wider world may know Hideaki Anno primarily for Neon Genesis Evangelion, but before that he made his name with the six-episode classic Gunbuster anime. Now, fans in Japan will be able to relive the magic thanks to a new remastered version of Aim for the Top! Gunbuster in theaters.
Featuring high-quality video and 5.1 surround sound, the theatrical version of Gunbuster will be based on the 2012 Blu-ray remaster. The screening will be split into two segments, with the first including episodes 1-4 and the second including 5-6, sans the Science Lesson shorts.
The Gunbuster anime screenings officially kick off in Japan on November 27, and those who attend will get a piece of film featuring an episode 1 scene as a bonus.
