Earlier this month, we posted about a Comiket alternative that was coming just in time to make up for the lack of a physical doujinshi event this year. ComicVket 1 ended up being held from August 13 to 16 in a virtual reality space, and it pulled in quite the impressive VR crowd.
Over the course of the weekend, ComicVket 1 attracted 104,546 visitors from Japan and the rest of the world. 60 companies participated in the four-day event along with 337 doujinshi circles, all showing off their latest works to a very eager group of virtual visitors.
Doujinshi were available to purchase both digitally or via mail order, and the space it all went down in did its best to replicate the feel of the real Akihabara. This first virtual event went so well, in fact, that ComicVket 2 is already lined up for early 2021.
