Those are the official number ones from Yahoo Japan (yes, Yahoo is still a thing in Japan) in the categories of anime, film and games for 2021.

Here’s the top three for the anime and film categories.

Anime:
1. Tokyo Revengers
2. Jujutsu Kaisen
3. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Film:
1. Evangelion
2. Rurouni Kenshin The Final
3. BELLE

Even in film, two anime films (and one based on a manga) made up the top three. That’s Japan for ya.
