Japanese anime fans have been tasked with a serious challenge. With Japan’s Heisei Era coming to an end, the goo Ranking website asked users to decide on the best anime girl of the entire period. Keep in mind, the Heisei Era started on January 8, 1989, and will most likely come to an end sometime this April. In other words, that leaves a lot of potential Best Girls in the running!

Without further ado, here’s how the top 10 “strong, beautiful heroines” list shook out for Japan:

9. Nami – One Piece

8. Rei Ayanami – Neon Genesis Evangelion

7. Ran Mouri – Case Closed

6. Boa Hancock – One Piece

Other Top 20 women included Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade from Kizumonogatari, Nanoha from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, and Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.
